Check of serviceability of functioning and thermostat replacement

Do not open a cover of a radiator and do not remove the thermostat before full cooling of the engine! The prevention in the beginning see also Has undressed Antifreeze - the general data).

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before definitively to affirm as opinion on a thermostat exit out of operation, check up level of a cooling liquid in system, a condition and effort of a tension drive a belt (Routine maintenance see the Head) and also serviceability of functioning of a measuring instrument / a control lamp of temperature.
2. One of the possible reasons of too slow warming up of the engine (according to measuring instrument indications) is thermostat jamming in open position. Replace the thermostat new.
3. In case of an engine overheat touch a hand the bottom hose of a radiator. If the hose not нагрет, probably, the thermostat is jammed in the closed position and blocks circulation of a cooling liquid through a radiator. Replace the thermostat.

At all do not maintain the car with the removed thermostat, - the feedback of the onboard processor that will lead to increase of toxicity of the fulfilled gases and excessive increase in the expense of fuel thus can be broken off.

4. If the bottom hose нагрет, it means that the cooling liquid regularly circulates through a radiator, i.e. the thermostat is opened. Address to materials of the Section devoted to diagnostics of malfunctions of system of cooling (Introduction in the beginning of the present Management see).
5. The most exact results are given by thermostat check on a workbench.
6. Remove the thermostat from the engine (see more low).
7. Tie up to assemblage of the thermostat a piece of a wire and lower it in the capacity filled with water. There lower the thermometer.

Track, that the thermometer and the thermostat did not adjoin to walls and a capacity bottom.

8. Start to warm up slowly water, watching change of indications of the thermometer, - operation of the valve of the thermostat should occur in exact conformity to requirements of Specifications).
9. Estimate size of full opening of the valve, - the rating value makes 8 mm.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped by a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Merge cooling liquid (Routine maintenance see the Head).
3. At a corresponding complete set disconnect from a thermostat casing vacuum hoses.
4. Uncover a thermostat casing.
5. Take the thermostat from a casing, - try to remember its adjusting position. Carefully smooth out sealing surfaces of a cover and a casing of the thermostat a scraper, then wipe their rags moistened in solvent.
6. Establish the thermostat on the regular place the prorolling valve forward and upwards.
7. Tighten all fixture with demanded effort. Operating as it should be the return to a dismantle order, establish into place all acting in film components.
8. Fill cooling system (Routine maintenance see the Head). Start the engine and check up it on presence of leaks and serviceability of functioning of the thermostat.
