Check

The traction relay

Described below check should be made at strictly stipulated pressure! Duration of each check should not exceed 5 seconds!

Check of an involving winding of the traction relay of a starter

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a wire of a winding of excitation from the plug With.
2. Connect the battery directly to the traction relay of a starter and make sure of serviceability выдвигания a leading gear wheel of a starter. If the gear wheel is not put forward, replace the relay.
3. For check of a keeping winding of the relay collect a chain under the scheme described above, and after gear wheel promotion disconnect a negative wire from the plug With, - the gear wheel should remain in the put forward position. If there is a gear wheel retraction, replace assemblage of the traction relay.
4. At a detachment of a negative wire from the case of the relay the gear wheel, on the contrary, should be involved.


Starter performance data

For maintenance of the guaranteed start of the engine in any weather conditions it is necessary for starter to develop high turns of rotation and enough big twisting moment. The listed characteristics to a great extent depend on level of a charge of the storage battery in view of what starter check should be made with application of the battery completely meeting on the performance data requirements of Specifications.

Starter check is made in three modes (see further).

Test without loading

Connect to the starter disconnected from the engine meeting on performance data to requirements of Specifications the storage battery and measure frequency of rotation, pressure and a starter current. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications.

Test under loading (the recommended method)

During the given test check of a twisting moment developed by a starter is made. Check is made on the special test bed, the equipped adaptation for applying of brake effort. Compare results of measurement to Specification requirements.

Test under loading with applying of the brake moment (an alternative method)

Check is made on the same, as earlier the test bed in which the anchor стартерной assemblages this time is blocked. During check measurement of control parametres is made, - compare results of measurements to Specification requirements.

Low frequency of rotation, or excessive current can be a consequence of the raised internal component of a friction of a starter as a result of wrong assemblage of its components.


Service

Dismantling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect electroconducting from the traction relay of a starter.
2. Turn out from a case cover стартерной assemblages coupling bolts.
3. Separate the traction relay from статора.

4. Turn out screws fixing screws and uncover статора.

5. By means of flat-nose pliers delay upwards a spring from outside (+) brushes and accurately take last from щеткодержателя, - try not to damage a brush and a collector.

6. Take from статора an anchor.

The anchor has considerable weight, - try not to drop it in the course of extraction!

7. Turn out fixing screws and separate the traction relay from the case.

8. Take from the case муфту and shake out from it a steel ball, - try not to lose a ball.

9. Liberate from the case an intermediate gear wheel.
10. Take from the case the holder and a cylindrical pin, - try not to drop components.
11. Remove from the traction relay a spring.

Anchor

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Using a special tester for revealing of short-circuited coils, check up anchor windings on presence of signs of short circuit between ламелями a collector. If short circuit takes place, the current in the device will alternate with a return current, and the anchor winding will be magnetised. A sign of magnetisation of a winding is vibration of the metal plate brought to the checked site.
2. Check up on breakdown isolation between a collector and the anchor core, - measured resistance should make not less than 10 МОм.
3. By a calliper measure external diameter of a collector. Compare result of measurement to Specification requirements.
4. Lay an anchor in V-shaped prisms and with the help циферблатного a measuring instrument плунжерного type estimate size of radial palpation of a collector. In case of need give assemblage in проточку.

5. Check up depth подрезки isolation between ламелями, - if the result of measurement appears below admissible value (Specifications see) make corresponding updating, having taken advantage for this purpose ножовочным of a cloth.

Before the check beginning it is necessary to remove completely from a surface of windings a coal powder and other adjournment.

Minor defects can be removed from a surface of a collector by processing of its fine-grained emery paper.


The bearing

Manually check up smoothness of rotation of the bearing, in case of need make replacement.

Статор

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. By means of an ohmmeter check up an excitation winding статора.
2. Measure residual length of coal brushes, - if it has decreased more than on 1/3 from rating value (Specifications see) brushes are subject to replacement.

Щеткодержатель

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance of isolation щеткодержателя.
2. If the result of measurement makes less than 10 МОм, replace the holder.

Обгонная муфта

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check up rotation freedom обгонной муфты in a direction clockwise. Counter-clockwise муфта should not to rotate.
2. Attentively examine working surfaces of teeths of leading and parasitic gear wheels, and also gear wheels обгонной муфты. At revealing having chopped off or signs of excessive deterioration обгонная муфта is subject to replacement in gathering, - in parallel it is necessary to study a condition of a gear wreath of a flywheel.

Starter assemblage is made as it should be the return to an order of dismantle of components. Pay attention to following moments:
  1. Before the assemblage beginning grease corresponding components in points - use greasing ESSO BEACON 325 or SHELL ALVANIA GREASE RA;
  2. At assemblage of the traction relay and обгонной муфты муфта it is established on the relay before an intermediate gear wheel (do not forget to establish a steel ball and a spring, in advance plant on an intermediate gear wheel the bearing);
  3. At landing of anchor assemblage in статор do not forget to plant on an anchor shaft at once behind the bearing a felt washer;
  4. Assemblage щеткодержателя on статоре is made according to the data resulted on an accompanying illustration;
  5. At installation to a cover статора track correctness of combination of its gear part with the plug of a conclusion of electroconducting through passage;
  6. At installation on статор the traction relay track correctness of combination of a label on статоре with a reciprocal ledge on the relay.
