Replacement of boots and service of drum-type brake mechanisms of back wheels

Remember that developed in the course of work of brake mechanisms the dust can contain extremely unhealthy the person asbestos.

At all do not blow off a dust the compressed air and do not inhale it, - at service of mechanisms put on a protective mask or a respirator.

At all do not use for rubbing of components of brake system by gasoline or solvents on an oil basis, - apply only firm cleaners or methyl spirit!

Replacement of boots should be made simultaneously on both brake mechanisms.

In order to avoid mess at assemblage dismantle of brake mechanisms should be made serially, - the second can be used as the sample at assemblage.

Simultaneously with replacement of brake boots replacement of their coupling and directing springs which as a result of constant cyclic mechanical and thermal loadings are stretched/give in due course should be made also, stopping to develop demanded effort that conducts to прихватыванию brakes and to acceleration of deterioration of drums.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Loosen the nuts of fastening of back wheels. Поддомкратьте a back of the car also establish it on props. Prop up forward wheels противооткатными boots. Remove wheels. Release a lay brake.
2. Remove a brake drum. If the drum "has become attached" and does not give in to removal, process hairpins of its fastening and a semiaxis flange getting oil, then обстучите external edge of a drum a hammer. If the drum still does not act in film, take заглушку from a brake board and, having passed a screw-driver through a special aperture, rotation of a cogwheel of a regulator ослабьте a clip of boots.
3. Carefully clean assemblage of the brake mechanism with application of special means.
4. Carefully wipe a brake drum and check up it on presence of cracks, furrows, cavities, signs of local overheats, estimate size of ovality of assemblage, in case of need give a drum in проточку. Or replace it.

Composers of the present Management recommend to make проточку drums without dependence from their condition for the purpose of any removal of defects and ovality elimination. If проточка a drum cannot be made without infringement of requirements to the maximum admissible internal diameter (it is beaten out on a drum), it is necessary to make its replacement.

If to make проточку drums it is not obviously possible, at least, carefully smooth out their working surfaces a fine-grained emery paper.

5. Disconnect springs and remove brake boots.
6. Estimate degree of deterioration of frictional overlays, in case of need make replacement of boots.
7. Operating in a similar manner, make service of assemblage of the brake mechanism of an opposite wheel.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Establish into place brake boots. Restore initial connection of springs.
2. Some times move the executive lever of a drive of a lay brake forward-back and check up freedom of rotation of a regulator.
3. Establish to the place of a brake drum, some times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake, then, rotating a screw-driver a regulator castor, slightly press boots to a drum surface, - there should be a weakness in resistance проворачиванию the last. Turn a castor in an opposite direction, having released a drum. Muffle an aperture in a brake board a rubber stopper.
4. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel nuts with demanded effort (Routine maintenance see the Head).
5. Check up adjusting position of a pedal of a foot brake (the Section System of antiblocking of brakes (ABS) - the general information and diagnostic checks see). Activation of self-regulators occurs at braking moving a car backing. Before to start vehicle operation, make sure of serviceability of functioning of brake system.
